Ricardo Davila works with intense colors inspired by nature, often on huge canvases. A native of Cuenca, Ecuador, he has been influenced over the years by early Ecuadorian art, Picasso–and formal training in architecture. Nowadays, he gets many of his best ideas on morning runs through the lush woodlands around his studio, near Quito. He is considered one of his country’s preeminent living artists.
